Contemplación joins the MICHELIN Guide 2026

Read moreWhen a hotel enters the MICHELIN Guide it is never by chance, nor by applying: behind it lies a method as rigorous as it is discreet. Now that Contemplación Resort & Spa, in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, has been selected in the MICHELIN Guide 2026, we want to share how that process works.
The selection is defined by anonymous, independent inspectors, under a universal methodology, the same in every country. There is no checklist to tick off and no imposed hotel style: what they look for is that each place be authentic in what it promises. Their judgement rests on five criteria.
1. The hotel, a doorway to its destination. More than a place to sleep, a MICHELIN hotel is an ambassador of its surroundings, in harmony with them and a reflection of the local identity.
2. Excellence in architecture and interior design. The vision of the building and the quality of its spaces: the materials and details that stir emotion, whether historic or contemporary.
3. Quality and consistency in service, comfort and upkeep. The warmth, the care and the ease of the service — and that it holds up day after day, not just on a good night.
4. Coherence between experience and price. What is offered must match what it costs to live it. Urban or rural, luxurious or simple, a hotel is measured by what it promises and what it delivers.
5. Individuality: personality and character. What makes a hotel impossible to confuse with another: a genuine identity, shaped by its people and the place that inspires it.
Reading these criteria feels like reading our own way of understanding hospitality in Valle de Guadalupe: the dialogue with the vineyard, the care of every space and a way of welcoming that wants every guest to feel at home. Joining the MICHELIN Guide 2026 confirms it.
