What are the MICHELIN Keys (and what it means to be in the selection)

Just as Stars recognise the best restaurants, the MICHELIN Keys are the distinction the Guide awards to hotels. But before the Key there is a first step: being part of the Guide's selection. We explain it from Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California.

First, the selection

The MICHELIN Guide gathers a collection of hotels chosen by its anonymous, independent inspectors: places recommended around the world, with the promise of a stay of quality and character. Being within that selection is already a recognition — and this is exactly where Contemplación Resort & Spa was selected in the MICHELIN Guide 2026.

Then, the Keys

Within that collection, the Guide distinguishes the very best with one, two or three Keys:

One MICHELIN Key — A very special stay. A hotel with its own character and personality, where the service always goes a step further.

Two MICHELIN Keys — An exceptional stay. Among the best of its kind, with a memorable experience from start to finish.

Three MICHELIN Keys — An extraordinary stay. The highest expression of hospitality: one of the most remarkable hotels in the world, a destination in itself.

And us?

Today Contemplación is part of the MICHELIN Guide 2026 selection in Valle de Guadalupe, and we celebrate it with gratitude. The Keys are a horizon that inspires us: we will keep caring for every detail, with the same passion as always, hoping to draw closer to them one day.
